Magazine Yellow Pages Announces Launch
PEKIN, Illinois—February 19, 2004—Magazine Yellow Pages announced today that it will launch its premier issue in mid-2004. Magazine Yellow Pages will be a 200-page listing of magazines available in the U.S. complete with subscription information and descriptions, giving consumers a comprehensive reference of all U.S. magazines for the first time ever. The premier issue will be distributed at no cost to more than 300,000 American homes, with an ultimate reach to more than 2.5 million consumers.
“We’re using Yellow Pages, a well-established and highly influential medium, to introduce an innovative concept, a comprehensive listing of subscription opportunities,” Cathy Beers, publisher of Magazine Yellow Pages, said. “Until now, readers have had no idea of the vast array of magazine titles available. More than 20,000 magazines are in circulation today, with new titles premiering every month.”
More than just a reference for consumers, Magazine Yellow Pages will allow publishers to spur subscription growth by reaching more potential subscribers than ever before. “After three decades in the industry, I’ve seen it all—partnerships, promotions, sweepstakes, thousands of direct mail campaigns—yet every circulation director says the same thing, that finding new readers is harder than ever,” Beers said.
All publications can receive a listing in the Magazine Yellow Pages, with enhanced advertising exposure available throughout the book. MYP will manage everything from publishing the book to handling the subscription process. “New subscriptions will be generated by ‘direct written request’—those are core readers, the market that publishers want most,” Beers said.
Magazine Yellow Pages will be used by consumers to purchase magazine subscriptions, give gift subscriptions, and discover the vast array of magazine titles available. “This is a product that comes directly into the buyer’s home and stays there, as a trusted reference. Whatever their interests—from Arizona Golf to Zen Meditation—it will be easy for people to find the right publications and order them from Magazine Yellow Pages,” Beers said.
