Magazine Yellow Pages Announces National Distribution Underway
PEKIN, Illinois—November 19, 2004—Magazine Yellow Pages announced today that it has begun nationwide distribution of its premier issue. The directory, which is being poly-bagged with traditional Yellow Book phone directories, will hit 16 key cities, representing a mix of small, medium, and large markets. The initial distribution will test all county sizes, including rural, urban, and suburban areas.
Magazine Yellow Pages blends two of America’s most trusted information sources. In fact, research shows that 90% of yellow pages users make a purchase and that magazines are repeatedly one of the premier and most trusted sources of information. Yet, only a small percentage of the close to 6,500 magazines are big enough to yield a presence on newsstands, and yellow pages advertising has been impractical in the past for obtaining magazine subscriptions—until now.
“Branding these two trusted industries together is ideal. Now, when consumers or business professionals have specialized interests, they can find exactly what magazine they’re looking for in Magazine Yellow Pages, just as they do 3 to 4 times a month when they are looking for other businesses in the traditional yellow pages,” said Cathy Beers, CEO and Publisher of Magazine Yellow Pages.
“Until now, readers have had no idea of the vast array of magazine titles available to them. Over 50 to 75 new titles come out each month. If you have an interest—from Arizona Golf to Zen Meditation—you’re going to find it here. We plan to reach all 6,500 magazines so that consumers have choice, great editorial—and discover that these titles even exist. We plan to be in every home in America in the next 5 years,” Beers said.
Consumers will be able to choose from more than 500 magazines listed in the premier issue of Magazine Yellow Pages. Distribution of the premier issue will continue through the end of the year to select cities across the country. Orders may be placed by phone, mail-in card, or online at www.magazineyellowpages.com.
